Are You Carrying a Heavy Burden?

Living in today's world often means living in our heads. We carry a heavy burden of thought—replaying the past, worrying about the future, and constantly judging the present moment. This internal noise drains our energy, creates anxiety, and disconnects us from who we truly are.

You don’t have to carry it alone.

If you are in the Nanaimo or Central Vancouver Island region, I invite you to join a small, intimate group of 10 - 12 participants dedicated to putting that burden down. This is an invitation to step away from your screens, leave your daily roles at the door, and enter a physical space of safety, silence, and shared presence.

Why an In-Person Group?

While online tools are wonderful, there is a profound healing power in gathering physically with like-spirited people.

  • The Energy Field: Experience the tangible benefit of "holding space" together. The stillness of the group helps deepen your own practice.

  • Digital Detox: For 75 minutes a week, you are unplugged. No notifications, no cameras—just human connection.

  • Safe Community: In a small group of only 10 - 12 people, we foster a confidential, non-judgmental environment where it is safe to be vulnerable and authentic.

How We Will Work Together

This group is designed to be deeply experiential, moving beyond intellectual understanding into the actual practice of presence. While we use Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now as our map, the group provides the terrain for you to walk the path.

Each meeting creates a safe "container" for growth, incorporating:

  • Short Readings: We will explore brief excerpts from the text, allowing time to digest the wisdom and ask questions.

  • Meditation & Reflection: We utilize moments of music and silence to facilitate introspection and journaling.

  • Connection: You will have opportunities for safe sharing in pairs (dyads), as well as insights within the full circle.

  • Embodiment: We utilize gentle movement exercises to help you get out of your head and anchor your awareness in the body.

The 6-Week Journey

Session 1: You Are Not Your Mind We begin by exploring our deep identification with the "voice in the head." We learn to shift from being our emotions to witnessing them, applying this ability to daily life to reclaim our sense of self.

Session 2: The Origin of Fear & The Joy of Being We examine the origin of fear and the ego’s defensiveness, discovering how to drop "psychological time" (worry and regret). By using our senses fully, we bypass the problem-making mind and access the joy of Being.

Session 3: Dissolving Unconsciousness This week focuses on the habit of "waiting" and how we often reject the present moment. We explore how to observe our inner states and deal with the past without letting it cloud the Now.

Session 4: The Anchor of the Inner Body To stop the momentum of the mind, we need deep roots. We answer the question "What is the inner body?" and learn to use the breath to connect with the subtle energy field that animates us.

Session 5: Transforming the Pain-Body We unpack the "pain-body"—accumulated emotional pain that feeds on drama. We discuss how it is created, how it manifests, and how to view it as a disguised opportunity for spiritual growth.

Session 6: The Wisdom of Surrender We conclude by exploring acceptance, the cycles of life, and the strength found in yielding to reality rather than resisting it. We discuss how to practice surrender in relationships and daily challenges.

Group Details & Logistics

When: Wednesdays, 6:10 PM – 7:25 PM; January 7, 14, 21, 28 & February 4, 11, 2026

Where: J. Woychuk Counselling, 6082 McGirr Road, Nanaimo, BC; (A quiet, private setting in North Nanaimo)

Group Size: Strictly limited to 10 - 12 participants to ensure intimacy and individual attention.

Investment: $300 total for all 6 sessions. (Payable upon acceptance into the group to secure your spot).

  • Are seeking a supportive community to practice mental and emotional balance.

  • Are ready to commit to weekly attendance and confidentiality.

Please Note: This therapy group is for personal growth and stress management. It is not suitable for individuals currently in acute mental health crisis. If you are in crisis, please contact me for individual counselling options.
